Psychotherapy
I offer short term and long-term therapy, including adults on the autism spectrum. My aim is to help you understand how your problems develop and what will be required to work through them.
Therapy isn’t about giving advice or telling you how to do things differently, it’s about helping you navigate your own way through your difficulties.
How therapy progresses will depend on what you’re struggling with and what you want to focus on. Most Importantly you are actually the expert on you and you have autonomy in your treatment, working at your pace with your focus.
Autism & ADHD Assessments
Diagnostic assessment for children, teenagers and adults when social communication difficulties are present. Post diagnosis support : treatment plans which includes school visits to provide them with advice and guidance.
Coaching sessions for adults to deal with the work environment as well as relationship difficulties.
Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
ARFID is a condition characterised by the person avoiding certain foods or types of food, having restricted intake in terms of overall amount eaten, or both.
ARFID can have a negative impact on the person’s physical health and as well as on their psychological wellbeing. When a person does not take in enough energy (calories), they are likely to lose weight. Children and young people may fail to gain weight as expected and their growth may be affected, with a slowing in height increase.
Parenting Interventions
Parenting interventions are effective and are recommended by the National institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Being a parent is a long journey that does not need to feel daunting. Behaviourally based interventions targeting parenting skills have been shown to be effective in improving parenting skills, reducing child behaviour problems, and improving parental mental health.
I aim to empower parents by providing them tools to help them with their daily challenges (e.g behaviour / anxiety). I also work with families whose children have special educational needs.
